Florida Dental Health Care, Tooth extraction and smoking
Florida Dental Health Care, Tooth extraction and smoking: I am a smoker and I do need to have four teeth pulled out. I have the appointment in a week from now. I was told by a few people that I will not be able to smoke after having my teeth pulled. Is that true? If so why and for how long must I wait until I can smoke again? Thanks

It is true you should not smoke after having teeth extractions. It can cause you to have dry socket. Which belive me is very painfull and nothing you want to have.
My dentist made me way for two day but I think it can depend on the person and what your dentist will tell you. Just make sure you ask your dentist for the all the after care instuctions.

My dentist told my husband to wait for at least two to three days. Little to say he was smoking within four hours latter. He was lucky he did get dry socket but I was told it is a high risk to take.
I am a non smoker and had dry socket once and belive me it was just terrible. I never want to have that kind of dental pain again.

Give it at least 24 hours. I was a smoker when I had my wisdom teeth pulled. I smoked the next day I did not get dry socket but it did take longer for the extractions to full healh. My dentist told me it was because I was smoking
